Camp Kallos: Humanities General Assembly
On September 16, 2024, from 6 PM to 8 PM, the Humanities Program, in collaboration with UA&P Kallos, hosted the inaugural Camp Kallos: HUM General Assembly in ACB401, marking the first general assembly for the academic year 2024-2025. This vibrant gathering brought together current humanities students, faculty, and a few enthusiastic alumni, all eager to explore the relevance of the humanities in today’s world.
The evening began with opening remarks from CAS Dean Dr. Magsino, who set the tone for the assembly by emphasizing the significance of the humanities in fostering critical thinking and cultural understanding. Following the introduction, participants engaged in an icebreaker activity titled "Find Your Destiny," which encouraged everyone to connect and share their personal journeys within the field.
Next, the HUM Program Officer provided an insightful introduction to the humanities, highlighting key academic matters and the importance of humanistic studies in addressing contemporary issues. This segment aimed to inspire attendees to reflect on the value of their education and its potential impact on society.
The assembly then transitioned into an introduction to Kallos Projects, showcasing various initiatives designed to promote collaboration and creativity among students. These projects invite participants to engage in meaningful hands-on experiences that enhance their understanding of humanistic principles and foster a sense of community.
A special moment of camaraderie followed, with a group picture-taking session, a cherished tradition at every general assembly. This captured the spirit of unity and the connections formed throughout the evening.
The event concluded with closing remarks by the HUM Program Director, Dr. Joachim Antonio, who expressed gratitude for the vibrant participation and encouraged attendees to continue exploring the humanities with passion and curiosity.
As participants departed, the energy in the room reflected a renewed commitment to the study of the humanities and the importance of community engagement. Many expressed excitement for future gatherings, eager to build on the connections made during the assembly.
The first General Assembly was not just an event; it was a celebration of the humanities and the power of human connection. As the Humanities Program and UA&P Kallos look to the future, the foundation laid at this assembly promises fruitful explorations and collaborations in the humanities for years to come.
